Nestled in the mountains, this sacred area is home to centuries-old temples, towering cedar trees, and tranquil pathways that evoke a sense of timeless romance. Highlights include the ethereal Okunoin Cemetery, with its atmospheric lantern-lit paths, and the beautifully manicured Danjo Garan temple complex, offering a blend of cultural elegance and natural beauty. Photoshoot Details

  • Photos were taken a long time ago, however we still believe these photos are still relevant given this is a historical location. Caveat, this location is probably busier than what’s depicted here
  • Taken during winter.
  • If you head to the areas like Oku no In (Inner sanctuary) there are less people around.
  • Given that this is a graveyard, its best to be respectful in this location and conduct yourselves accordingly. For more romantic photos, best to stick to the shrine gates rather than where the stones are.
  • Theres an experience you can do if you want to stay overnight where you can stay in a Ryokan (lodging and meals) hosted by monks. I think the meals are vegetarian though.
