A famously quiet path in Kyoto
Escape the tourist crowds of Kyoto central and visit the Philospoher’s path. Known to inspire many scholars and literary greats of Japanese culture, this path is a leafy tree-lined river path with several bridges that make an interesting backdrop for romance. Have a Matcha tea, rent a kimono, try Japanese and western foods along the quaint cafes along this quiet streetscape.

- Taken Summer 2024
- This path looks best when trees are lined along this pathway, so we advise against going in winter when the foliage is gone.
- We really like this spot as its much quieter than the rest of Kyoto so it can be a nice setting for a private proposal
- Propose on the bridges, but pick a bridge where you can see more feet for kneeling. These pictures are the best bridges we can find that don’t block as much.
- There are plenty of really quaint cafes to visit to celebrate after
- Best part of the path is the south-most end.
